HUDSON – Two local animal rescue groups are pushing hard in October to unite their cats and dogs to their permanent homes.
Animalkind in Hudson has partnered with the Bissell Foundation and participated in the “Empty the Shelters” campaign, which runs from Oct. 4 to 11, said Animalkind’s fundraising director Aaminah Haq.
The Columbia-Greene Humane Society is waiving adoption fees for cats and dogs in October, said Ron Perez, president and CEO of the shelter.
The Bissell Foundation covers most of the adoption costs at Animalkind, so the adoption fee will only be $ 25 for cats over 7 months old during this campaign, Haq said.
Animalkind also has a special kitten deal during this time, which allows two kittens to be adopted for the price of one, which includes a medical and welfare examination, Haq said.
At Columbia-Greene Humane Society, a volunteer donor will cover the shelter’s adoption costs in October.
âWe would really like to match these dogs and cats with good homes,â Perez said.
Animalkind encourages future adopters to complete an adoption application at animalkindny.org so that they can schedule a meeting with the cats.
For Columbia-Greene Humane Society, applications can be completed at cghs.org.
Both organizations have photos and information about the animals for adoption on their websites.
