The next step to take is to find a local shelter or rescue group that offers pet adoptions, and schedule a meeting or see if they have adoption fairs scheduled.

And the upcoming schedule, for many local animal groups, is all about Saturday May 21 and Sunday May 22.

It’s National Adoption Weekend, and LA Animal Care & Control, along with several other organizations, will be waiving fees or offering a discount to humans looking for a loving, furry, scratching, scratching, and ready to snuggle up.

To LA Animal Carefeline adoptions will start at $25 all weekend, while dog adoptions will start at $50 (“additional fees may apply,” keep in mind).

Best Friends Animal Society has partnered with Bounty for a three-day adoption-focused event, May 20-22.

“Bounty will pay for the cost of adopting pets at Best Friends Animal Society rescue centers, as well as paying or assisting with adoption costs at 300 network partner sheltersacross the country,” shares Best Friends.

A local example of this generous promotion?

Adoption fees for large dogs — those dogs that weigh 40 pounds or more — will be waived May 20-22 at Pasadena Humane.
