Dog stuck in drainage pipe released by rescuers after more than 2 hours

A 4-year-old dog named Hubert, nicknamed Bubba, spent more than two hours stranded in an underground pipe in a park in suburban Boston on Wednesday. Boston Fire Department crew members and other agencies worked together to free the dog and return it to its owner.

From a tweet released by the Boston Fire Department, crew members used a camera to locate the dog’s position. Boston 25 reported that this rescue was particularly moving for the owner of Bubba, who wished to remain anonymous for the point of sale.

“He is our child, we have no children,” said the owner.

Bubba recently celebrated his fourth birthday with his rescue family, who said that while he was “shy and anxious” he was “so drenched”.

The outlet said Bubba got scared and ran inside the waste pipe when he was not leashed by his walker. In addition to Bubba’s weight, which made the rescue mission difficult, he also allegedly went deeper into the pipe when called out by his owners.

“He’s a little overweight like some of us, and he’s a 16 inch pipe, so he goes forward and he can’t back up, so we kept hitting him on the back,” said Chris Fall. from Boston Drain to Boston 25. “The fire guys got them out of the manhole.”

Teams helped guide Bubba to the pipe entrance and he was released just before the pipe separated.

“I just can’t thank the firefighters and everyone who helped,” said the owner at Boston 25. “He’s a lucky dog. It’s amazing.”

This isn’t the only animal rescue mission with a happy ending.

News week reported that a Michigan firefighter adopted the stray kitten he helped rescue from a storm sewer in August. Locals heard the kitten crying down the drain, and although police could also hear the kitten, they couldn’t see it.

Brandon Mulvaney joined the other firefighters who then responded to the scene and discovered that the kitten was trapped underground. They concocted a plan to remove the kitten and discovered the kitten was running into another smaller pipe.

Mulvaney spotted the kitten when he glanced around the pipe and quickly grabbed it and pulled it out of the pipe.

“At that point, I knew I wanted the kitten because it came straight to me,” he said. News week

After about two and a half months, Mulvaney was allowed to adopt the kitten and he has since settled into his new home forever.

News week has contacted the Boston Fire Department for further comment, but has not had a response at press time.
