Ask a Journalist: Is Ruff Housing’s dog daycare, grooming and boarding house under new ownership? | Local

Question: Is Ruff Housing dog daycare, grooming and boarding under new ownership?

Answer: Ruff Housing is under new ownership, according to a Ruff Housing spokeswoman.

“Yes, all Ruff Housing locations were sold in October 2021 to Destination Pet.”

Ruff Housing has two locations in Winston-Salem and one location each in Greensboro and Cary.

Destination Pet is a “national network of connected care centers offering veterinary services, daycare, boarding, grooming, training, and more, all under one roof or nearby,” according to its website.

Destination Pet is headquartered in Highlands Ranch, Colorado.

Q: When will the IRS process the backlog in the tax processing center? My return for 2021 was delivered to the IRS in Kanas on February 23. (I paid for the post office tracking mail.) It still hasn’t been connected. I check the website weekly. In addition, it is impossible to have someone on the phone. Can you tell me how to contact them for information?

A: The Internal Revenue Service will not discuss a specific taxpayer’s situation. Here is background information from an IRS spokesperson.

The IRS processed all error-free returns received before October 2021.

“We continue to reroute tax returns and taxpayer correspondence from locations that are late to locations where more staff are available, and we are taking other steps to minimize delays. Tax returns are opened and processed in the order received.

“As the return is processed, whether filed electronically or on paper, it may be delayed because it contains an error, including errors regarding the salvage refund credit and the child tax credit, lack of information or in case of identity theft or suspected fraud.

“The best bet for taxpayers wanting to track their refunds remains our ‘Where’s my refund?’ tool and view their online account. Calling the IRS 800 number would provide no different information; our assistants have the same data as taxpayers when using these tools.

“What you need to do: In most cases, no further action is required, but you can check the ‘Where’s my refund?’ box or you can view your account. If you submitted your claim through email and received an acknowledgment of receipt, you have nothing to do but respond promptly to any inquiries. If you filed on paper, check Where’s my refund? If it tells you that we have received your return or we are processing or reviewing it, we are processing your return, but it may be under review,” the spokesperson said.
