Ruby has had a difficult life. But the rescue that saved her hopes to make her final days for the best.

RBARI – an animal rescue based in Bergen County – discovered earlier this week that the 12-year-old German Shepherd’s cancer had metastasized and has a poor prognosis.

“The only company Ruby had in her life was when she had babies, but it was always short lived,” writes Rescue. “Ruby is dealing with terminal cancer after living a long, lonely life outside.”

Her owner died and her partner didn’t want her, so Ruby finally got her chance to break free thanks to RBARI’s Senior Animal Care Fund.

The senior dog is too old for more puppies and carries a breast mass due to reproductive effects and lack of medical care, says RBARI.

Her breast cancer had not been treated for so long that it had spread throughout her chest. She also suffers from Lyme disease and ear and skin infections, according to the rescue.

Ruby’s tumors are stable, so the main priority for rescue is to “spoil her until she becomes symptomatic.”

She is described as a sweet and happy girl who only lies for the time being.

“Ruby needs and deserves to be a beloved family member in a caring home. Ruby is incredibly sweet, despite 12 years of neglect and seeks a quiet home,” writes Rescue.

“She seems to get along well with the other dogs.”

E-mail [email protected] or visit rbari.org to apply to Ruby’s home today.

Rescue urges everyone to share Ruby’s story to help her find her perfect match and consider a donation for her medical care so we can help keep this deserving girl as comfortable and happy as possible during this time. very special vacation.
