Bristol catteries and kennels, and their availability in August.

As Bristol enjoys summer vacation, where can you accommodate your pet while on vacation?

It’s the summer holidays and contrary to popular belief, not all Bristolians seek to take all their family members with them.

Although adorable and man’s best friend, he can sometimes be an inconvenience to bring your cat or dog with you, i.e. when your local cattery or dog kennel comes to the rescue.

What is the availability of catteries in Bristol?

Tiny, adorable, but not exactly travel-friendly – what’s Bristol cattery availability?

Of the fourteen catteries that we managed to contact, only three had availability in August.

However, they were all at the end (no pun intended) of August, shortly before the end of school holidays and summer vacation.

What is the availability of kennels in Bristol?

More and more holiday homes are accepting dogs – but for those who can’t bring their best friend, are there kennels available in Bristol in August?

Of the thirteen kennels we spoke to, one was immediately available – Baromar.

Four kennels are not taking any bookings at all in 2022, although there are vacancies for dog sitting services, but it also depends on the type of dog owned – some places are happy to accommodate smaller breeds.

What are my other options for my cat or dog?

We had an incredibly helpful conversation with Meadows Cattery who, despite being booked for the majority of August, suggested using a “cat sitter” instead.

A cat sitter is exactly that – a reputable groomer who will look after your moggie while you’re on vacation. Think of it as an extended babysitter for your cat.

It’s a similar situation for dogs too – there are plenty of dog walkers and dog sitters out there who can look after your dog during the day, but then that would mean someone looking after your dog in the evening. .

Of course, things change and we advise readers to always keep an eye out for late cancellations of catteries or kennels that can accommodate your pet.
