Babylon Animal Shelter is looking for a home for its oldest resident, Sandy

After two years at Babylon Animal Shelter, Sandy the dog still needs a new home.

Kim Kaler, a volunteer at the shelter, said Sandy first arrived at the shelter in 2019 and has since become very popular with those who work there, she said.

But no visitor to a refuge with the right knowledge, the living situation and the experience of animals has mobilized to adopt it.

“It’s hard for us to point out his story when there are so many animals that need good homes,” Kaler said. “Sandy is a favorite volunteer that we absolutely adore and we just want to make sure she is successful wherever she goes. “

She has spent the last three Christmases at the shelter.

The 4-year-old was brought in after being neglected and left out in the heat and cold. She also developed a heartworm, which has since been treated.

Sandy’s past makes her nervous about new people and situations, which is why she needs an owner who understands and can help her build her confidence.

As for the qualifications for her new home, Sandy has to live with no other pets, she is better with older children, and a fenced yard to play in is a plus.

Those who wish to visit him at the shelter must undergo several encounters with Sandy.

Adoption costs are covered, there is also a rescue group ready to help, so foster care to adopt is an option and the adopter must be within three hours of the shelter. The Babylon Animal Shelter offers three months of paid training to help Sandy’s transition.
