A dog is lucky to be alive after being caught in a fence along I-395.

Animal control officers from the Animal Welfare League of Arlington rescued the petrified puppy along the busy freeway earlier today. A video and report of the rescue was posted on social media.

From the AWLA:

Chef Toussaint and Officer [Elpers] performed a life-saving rescue today, after this terrified dog got stuck between two fences just off Highway 395.

Chef Toussaint had to cut the fence with bolt cutters to reach it, and after trying treats and a few other methods, put dog food on his leash, waiting for him to start eating, then slowly slid the leash over his head. . In total, it took about an hour and a half to get the dog safely into a crate, while traffic roared right next to them.

The dog is now safe and sound here at AWLA while we search for his family. We are so grateful to Chief Toussaint and Officer Elpers for bringing this dog to safety!
