EAST PROVIDENCE, RI (WLNE) – Three people were arrested and charged on Monday after a dog was found in an Auto Spa with a serious skin infection.
Johnston’s Kayla Card and William Pagliarini reportedly left the dog at Sunset Auto Spa on Taunton Ave. in East Providence to be cared for by one of the employees, Scott Corbin, while they were away.
Card and Pagliarini are accused of failing to provide adequate veterinary care and leaving the dog to suffer from a skin infection without proper treatment.
On August 25, a report reached East Providence Police that a dog in an Auto Spa kennel “is not doing well”.
The pit bull mix, named Primo, was found coughing and appeared to have difficulty breathing. Police said the temperature outside was 90 degrees.
East Providence Animal Control grabbed Primo and took him to a vet for treatment. Primo has since worked with the East Providence Animal Control Center under the care of a veterinarian, and police say he’s improved by 50%.
Card, Pagliarini and Corbin are billed as follows:
- Animal abuse
- Unnecessary cruelty to animals
- Dog outside when the room temperature is too hot / too cold
- The owner / guardian does not provide his dog with adequate veterinary care
