KATMANDU: The 8th^e The General Convention of the Maoist CPN-Center decided to adopt a system of collective leadership within the party.

Responding to questions from convention delegates during the closed session of the general convention on Friday, leader Dev Prasad Gurung said the party was adopting collective leadership within the party.

Earlier, taking part in the roundtable in the closed session, most leaders felt that the party should consider giving the prerogative to party chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ as during their days of ‘people’s war’. .

The Maoist center had formed 25 groups to discuss the political dossier and the draft statute amendment prepared by party chairman Prachanda and leader Gurung respectively.

Previously, the legislature planned to appoint 10 percent central members to the 299-member central committee. Now the status is being changed to increase the number of applicants by 15 percent.

Likewise, changes are being made to allow the district coordinating committee to appoint up to 25 percent of core members.
