TAPS No-Kill animal shelter needs people to welcome puppies and kittens

BEIJING, Ill. (WMBD) – Executives of TAPS No-Kill Animal Shelter in Beijing says the shelter is overflowing.

Executive Director Holly Crotty said they needed more people to accommodate puppies and kittens.

She said that last week the staff brought in 16 puppies in one day. This is in addition to the surrender of animals and stray animals that come daily to the shelter.

Crotty said the puppies need more care, including bottles every few hours, and need care outside of the shelter.

“It helps because it keeps young people out of the shelter system who have no immunity and have not yet received their vaccines because they are too young,” Crotty said. “It helps them stay healthy, socialize them, and put them on the path to adoption and a forever home.”

She said welcoming a pet is a special experience and the shelter provides everything to take care of the animal.

“It’s so rewarding. I actually got my start in rescue as a foster parent, and I’ll tell you when they’re adopted, I cry like a baby every time, but when you get that first update and see how good they’re doing, and you know you’ve helped it, ”Crotty said.

Those interested in adopting a pet can apply online.
