Sullivan County Animal Shelter Rescues Dozens Of Animals From One Residence | WJHL

SULLIVAN COUNTY, Tennessee (WJHL) – The Sullivan County Animal Shelter has asked for donations from the public after taking in 33 animals from a single residence.

Other agencies have collected animals from the same location, with more than 50 animals removed from the property.

According to the director of the shelter, Cindy Holmes, the shelter has already spent thousands of dollars on massive pest control treatments for the animals.

My team is working tirelessly to find a placement for all animals. We had the vet until 8pm twice this week. Our shelter is absolutely full of kittens and dogs. We are in desperate need of adoptions, especially kittens, to free up staff to help with the case. We are 110% committed to our no-kill position and our benchmark control. As such, my amazing staff and team of volunteers work late into the evening to keep these animals healthy and in their homes forever. We have over 50 kittens available in good health who need a home and several dogs already in the adoption room who do not yet have a rescue commitment or an adoption application. We need bleach, small bites of dog food, laundry detergent, volunteer dog walkers and, urgently, donations. The estimated travel cost for the rescue we found is $ 2,500, and we already spent $ 3,000 yesterday doing the basic check-up and massive pest control treatments.
