According to the Humane Society of the United States, “more than one million adoptable dogs and cats are euthanized in the United States. [each year]simply because too many animals are coming to shelters and too few people are considering adoption when looking for an animal.”

That number could be reduced “dramatically”, the Humane Society said, if more people choose to adopt their pets rather than buy them from breeders.

Animal shelters and rescue groups are full of happy, healthy pets just waiting for someone to bring them home. Humane Society explained. “Many are already home-trained and used to living with families.”

The organization also said that by adopting an animal, one person helps countless others.

“Overcrowded shelters take in millions of stray, abused and lost animals every year, and by adopting one animal, you are making room for others,” the Humane Society added.

For example, the shelter Kay works for routinely takes possession of dogs that have been sent to puppy mill breeders to be euthanized, he said. Newsweek. To show that “shelter dogs are also worth adopting,” Kay regularly posts videos on her TikTok page of dogs like Clementine jumping for joy when they learn they’re adopted.

Those who commented on Kay’s Clementine video said the video, along with Kay’s many other posts, moved them to tears.

“I love your page so much it brings tears to my eyes every time,” kitkat1986 wrote.

“I DON’T CRY, I CUT ONIONS,” 222 joked.

“Omg I’m gonna die of happiness,” lia said.

Kerry added, “Not me sitting here crying into my cornflakes.”

In May, it was reported that a shelter dog who had been ignored by countless families in a heartbreaking video had finally found his forever home. And in March, a video of a German Shepherd adopting its owner amassed more than 52 million views on TikTok.
