Hays County Judge Ruben Becerra encourages the community to help. “Homeless animals are a community problem, your help provides community solutions. “

Sharri Boyett, Judge Becerra’s Animal Advocate, suggests the following ways to help:

Reception and adoptions: Open your home to foster care or adoption. The shelter can be loud and spooky, so opening up your home to accommodate a pet means they can relax and come out of their shell. Foster kittens are very necessary during this time. Visit to learn more about Kitten Season and how to become a foster family. Foster families help fulfill the refuge’s mission of caring for, protecting and finding quality homes for abandoned and neglected animals. Each foster animal allows another needy animal to enter the shelter off the street.
