Pamplin Media Group – COIC Secures $2.2M Business Loan

The funds are part of the federal CARES Act to help address the ‘continuing impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic’

US Senators from Oregon, Jeff Merkley and Ron Wyden, recently announced that $25 million in Economic Development Administration grants are being distributed among 13 organizations across Oregon, who will use the funds to provide loans to businesses to help them mitigate the economic fallout caused by the coronavirus crisis.

Among the organizations that received funds was the Intergovernmental Council of Central Oregon, which received $2.2 million.

“COIC is very pleased to receive this funding to help businesses in Central Oregon recover from the severe and ongoing effects of the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Scott Aycock, Community and Economic Development Manager for COCI. . “We look forward to working with our partners to provide businesses with much-needed financing that traditional bank financing may not be able to provide.”

In their announcement, the senators highlighted the importance of providing financing to Oregon small businesses as the pandemic persists.

“Since the beginning of this public health emergency, I have been in regular contact with business owners and workers across Oregon about the serious economic consequences of the coronavirus,” Merkley said. “These Oregonians are invaluable contributors to our communities and they are in dire need of relief.”

Wyden added that the economic fallout from this public health crisis has hit small businesses and the hard workers they employ hard across Oregon.

“I know from phone conversations, Zoom, virtual town halls and more with Oregonians that these grants will provide much needed help,” he said. “It’s clear that much more needs to be done in the upcoming COVID-19 package to support these key investments in communities across the state.”
