Miraculous recovery of a cat after being nearly euthanized in a shelter

A cat who was rescued from near certain death at a shelter in Paris, Texas has experienced a miraculous recovery.

In a post on Reddit, jujukamoo explained how Henry the Cat was barely able to open his eyes when first taken into care, due to an issue with his eyelids that required surgery.

“Sweet Henry was taken from death row to a ‘code red’ shelter. He needed eye surgery because a problem with his eyelids was causing serious eye problems and infections,” they wrote. .

However, thanks to the incredible efforts of some devoted animal lovers, Henry was able to get the surgery he desperately needed.

The change the cat has since undergone is captured perfectly in the side-by-side image of the cat, before and after her life-changing transformation, which was shared as part of the post.

“An amazing flight attendant volunteered to take her to Boston on her day off (which has been tricky with all the flight cancellations lately.)”

Now Henry is preparing for the exciting next leg of his incredible journey.

“I found him the most perfect family in New Hampshire before he even got there and they’re coming over for a formal meet and greet this weekend to make sure they’re okay,” jujukamoo revealed.

Henry’s story sparked a huge response on Reddit, with many other users reaching out to pay tribute to those who made his recovery possible.

In response to the comment, the original jujukamoo poster said, “This photo was also after a round of antibiotics, honestly the photo in the shelter is a little upsetting how painful they looked so I didn’t post this. I can’t believe the difference, he barely looks the same cat! “

Reddit user Shezabel correctly identified the cat eye problem as “entropion,” a condition in which one eyelid, usually the lowest one, turns inward, causing the eyelashes and skin to rub against it. the surface of the eye.

“Entropion is a horrible affliction,” they wrote.

The original jujukamoo poster replied, “It really is. I usually save blind cats, so this was my first experience with entropion. I’m so glad he had a successful operation and that ‘he regained his sight! “

Henry was first found in what is commonly referred to as a shelter to kill.

Animal shelters are animal shelters that accept all animals, regardless of their age, behavior or state of health. However, these shelters are often forced to euthanize animals they cannot relocate in order to make room for others.
