WINTERSVILLE – June 5 is shaping up to be a day to help animals in need as the Jefferson County Humane Society prepares to host an open house from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. featuring fun activities, information about the programs offered and “Delicious food.”

The open house will be held at the Jefferson County Animal Shelter, located at 200 Airpark Drive, Wintersville, with June 12 as the rainy date, according to Brandi DeNoon Damewood, head of marketing and outreach, who noted that everyone is welcome, including children and on a leash. pets.

It will take place on the same day as the fourth 10K / 5K Pet Run / Walk fundraiser, which will start at 8:15 am.

The race is a fundraising event to benefit the Companion Animal Care Fund of the Jefferson County Humane Society, Damewood explained. “This fund is designed to give a helping hand to owners whose pets need veterinary care, but cannot afford the full cost. Thanks to the “shared cost” program, more pets have access to the necessary veterinary care that would not otherwise be possible ” she said.

Registration begins at 7:15 a.m. onsite at the start line located in the old Cross Creek Police Department building, which is adjacent to the animal shelter. Friendly animals on a leash are allowed.

Parking is located near the soccer fields.

Cash, credit and debit card payments are accepted. The registration fee is $ 20. The race will end at the Jefferson County Animal Shelter.
