In Australia, they kill dogs to “save” people from the virus

The images are more than disturbing – and no, it’s not a reference to Afghanistan.

In Australia, a supposedly free country, police clashed with anti-lockdown protesters, including firing guns at them, strangling them, spraying them with pepper and hitting them with batons.

But maybe here’s a new low that not even a de Blasio or a Lightfoot could envision.

The Sydney Morning Herald reported on Sunday that a NSW local government council had ordered the execution of rescue dogs in a public kennel in order to “protect” its citizens.

“The Bourke Shire Council in the northwestern state killed the dogs to prevent volunteers at a Cobar-based animal shelter from traveling to pick up the animals last week,” the Herald reported.

The newspaper said “several” dogs were killed, but did not provide an exact number. He also noted that they had been shot.

A spokesperson for a government watchdog, the Office of Local Government, or OLG, told the newspaper that it “has been informed that the board has decided to take this step to protect its employees and its community. , including vulnerable indigenous populations, of the risk of transmission of COVID-19 ”,

And here is the kick:

According to the state’s health department, the Herald reported that “there have been no recent cases of COVID-19 acquired locally in Cobar, although fragments of the virus have been found in the system. sewers in the region ”.

Another source told the newspaper that “the volunteers at the shelter are in distress and had COVID safety measures in place to handle the dogs, one of which was a new mother.”

And apparently it’s not the first time. OLG Chief Minister Shelley Hancock “has already faced questions in Parliament regarding the slaughter of animals at council pounds.

Animal rights activist Lisa Ryan calls for an urgent investigation.

“We are deeply distressed and completely dismayed by this callous dog shooting, and we totally reject the council’s unacceptable justifications that this murder was apparently undertaken as part of a COVID security plan,” Ryan told the Herald.

COVID-19 creates all kinds of illnesses, not all of them physical.
