Pennsylvania Senate Majority Leader Jake Corman of R-Benner Township has pushed for the “election integrity” audit, which includes issuing subpoenas for information on the elections.

PA

Ferguson Township supervisors took steps to unanimously oppose the “forensic audit” of the 2020 Pennsylvania election at their meeting on Monday.

Supervisor Steve Miller introduced the resolution, which is similar to the one passed by State College Borough in September. He said the audit is an “unnecessary action” and is “counterproductive”.

Senate Speaker Pro Tempore Jake Corman of the Township of R-Benner announced last month that he wished to issue subpoenas to obtain information and testimony from senior election officials in the state and the electoral system. State voter registration. In mid-September, the Republican-controlled committee overseeing the audit held a party line vote to issue the subpoenas. It included the names of those who voted in last year’s presidential election, their date of birth, address, driver’s license number and the last four digits of their social security number.

Miller said the resolution was an opportunity for the township to oppose the audit.

“In my opinion, this is a repeat of the farce we saw in Arizona… despite the fact that there is no real indication that there was a problem with the 2020 election,” Miller said.

He said financial advisers tell people to keep identifying information, such as your driver’s license and social security numbers, private. These two elements are at least partially included in the assignment.

“My opinion is that if there’s a group that you want to be protected from more than a group of politicians in Harrisburg, I don’t know who they are,” Miller said.

Ferguson’s resolution states that “the conduct of this forensic audit compromises the integrity of future elections and infringes the right to vote of all eligible voters in Pennsylvania.”

“The Ferguson Township Board of Supervisors hereby opposes the forensic audit of the 2020 Pennsylvania State Senate election as warrantless and without supporting evidence; and, furthermore, recommends that the audit be immediately halted and that the committee be dissolved, ”the resolution reads.

In November, the Department of Homeland Security declared the election “the safest in American history” and “there is no evidence that a voting system suppressed or lost votes, altered votes or has been compromised in any way “.

The resolution says that “at least 63 election lawsuits filed by the 2020 Republican presidential campaign have, in the words of the Brennan Center for Justice,” failed to reduce a significant number of votes, block certification of results or overturn votes. results of any race ”and“ in a number of these cases the courts have strongly reprimanded lawyers for their far-fetched allegations of electoral fraud, gross lack of evidence and abuse of justice ”.

Joe Biden is the confirmed winner of the presidential race in Pennsylvania and these results have been certified. There is no evidence that an audit will change the outcome of the election.
