Dagoretti man in court for stealing dog – Nairobi News

A man has been charged with burglary after breaking into a kennel and allegedly stealing a dog worth 100,000 shillings from his relative’s compound.

Ian Kinuthia is charged with burglary and committing a crime contrary to Section 306 of the Penal Code where he is accused of stealing Elizabeth Wambui’s dog in Nairobi.

Wambui had locked the dog in the kennel before going out.

When he returned in the evening, he found the door to his enclosure broken and later the kennel was broken into and the dog was missing.

She asked around if neighbors had seen what happened, but was only told to check with people with similar dogs.

As she was looking for her dog, she was told there were two men selling a similar dog, but they were chased away when they tried to sell it for 5,000 shillings.

Kinuthia fit the description of one of the men selling the dog. She reported the matter to the police and the suspect was arrested. The dog has not been found.

Kinuthia denied the charges before Senior Resident Magistrate Renee Kitangwa at the Kibera Courthouse.

He was released on a cash bond of 100,000 shillings and an alternative bond of a similar sum.

The case will be discussed on February 7.
