NEW PHILADELPHIA – Clayton E. Lietzke, 80, known to all as Jeff, died Sunday morning July 4, 2021, after numerous health battles throughout the past year.

Jeff was born in Alpena, Michigan on May 3, 1941, and was adopted by Venus and Melvin Lietzke of LaSalle, Michigan in 1950. He attended and graduated from the Monroe County School System in 1959. After high school, Jeff s ‘enlisted in the Air Force and served until 1962. After serving, Jeff met and married Wendy Sharron Cicely Lauder and settled in Monroe, Michigan, where he had four children and worked in the automotive manufacturing company.

After Wendy’s death in 1973, Jeff married Joyce Ann Kelly Casto and added his three children to their clan. The family of nine relocated to Lisbon in 1976, where he lived for more than three decades.

While living in Lisbon, Jeff worked in the pottery factories of Chester, W.Va., and later in the coal mines just outside of Lisbon.

In his youth, Jeff enjoyed golfing and fishing. Later in his life he enjoyed traveling in a recreational vehicle and was heavily involved and active in many dog ​​clubs, including the Columbiana County Kennel Club, Canton Ohio Pekingese Club, and the Lakeland Bulldog Club of Pennsylvania. He has bred, shown, and sold many breeds of dogs including Afghan Greyhounds, English Bulldogs, Shih Tzus, and Pekingese to name a few. After years of dog show, Jeff contributed to the kennel clubs of which he was a member, holding several positions and serving on boards of directors for various organizations.

Jeff recently lived in New Philadelphia, where he spent the last few years. His wife Joyce died in 2020.

He is survived by his seven children, including one son, Russell (Sarah) Lietzke of Fairmont, Minn .; three daughters, Kimberly (George) Vitko of Brooksville, Florida, Margaret Lietzke in Sterling, Virginia and Sharron Lietzke in Wylie, Texas; daughter-in-law, Alice Marie Château de Westerville; and two step-sons, Ed (Wanda) Casto of New Philadelphia and Kelly (Kathy) Casto of Westerville. He is also survived by eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Reverend Kathy Barton of Elkton United Methodist Church will host a private funeral service for the immediate family on Saturday July 10, 2021 at Riverview Cemetery in East Liverpool.
