Boozehounds is the new dog-friendly restaurant in Palm Springs

A stay in Palm Springs without your puppy isn’t a stay at all, so Angelenos road trips to the desert destination will be thrilled to know that a new dog-friendly restaurant and bar called Boozehounds , offers premium options for them. and their four-legged friends.

Open for co-working and coffee, brunch, happy hour, and dinner, the restaurant opened in April with a Southern California menu that features local, seasonal ingredients, as well as mouth-watering options. for dogs like protein bowls, gizzards, jerky, and more.

The 3,812-square-foot restaurant and bar is joined by a glass atrium about half its size along with an expansive open-air lounge, outdoor bar facing Mount San Jacinto State Park, and loveseats suspended. Strongly mid-century modern, the indoor dining room is airy, planted and quintessentially Palm Springs with velvet chairs and sofas in burnt orange and emerald green tones.

Founders Jimmy McGill, Steve Plaisance, and Bryan rogers, all dog lovers, aimed to create a friendly and welcoming gathering place for locals, visitors and their dogs. With its logo and user-friendly menu, Boozehounds pays homage to the late dog Striker of McGill and Piacenza – a Pasadena Humanitarian Society rescue they were blessed with in 1999 and who lived to the age of 126 (in canine years, of course). Taking their love and dedication to the community a step further, Boozehounds is committed to running pet adoption campaigns with the Palm Springs Animal Shelter and supporting local vendors and artisans.

“Because we are deeply in debt to our special city, we also plan to give back through events and fundraisers with a focus on our friends at the Palm Springs Animal Shelter. First, we whet our appetites with a round of crispy vegan fermented mild chili crisp Brussels sprouts and sesame miso tofu with puffed shishito peppers. For the main course, we order the adobo chicken with steamed rice and spicy coconut vinegar and a side of the vegan kale salad with grilled pepitas, avocado and watermelon relish. . Then my boyfriend and I shared focaccia bread with a side of crispy fingerling potatoes and Castelvetrano olives (because we’d rather have another round of food than save room for dessert).

Milo, our canine companion and rescuer from Compton, will start with the duck treats. For his main meal, he’ll salivate over the weenie-tini, which features chicken broth and chicken whipped cream topped with a dog biscuit crumble.

As the website notes, it wouldn’t be Boozehounds if it weren’t for the good booze. The cocktails are hosted by mixologist Justin Gordon and carry fur-friendly names like Old Yeller and Dog Day Afternoon. If it’s hot, which it will be, we’ll sip one of their many crushed ice and spritz cocktail options. In addition to global and Asian influences, the owners decided to honor their surroundings by incorporating as many local elements as possible into their vision.

“I find myself continually inspired and influenced by the communities in which I serve, and my time here at Boozehounds is no exception. Executive chef Corey baker has been refining his craft for 20 years and has spent eight years at Denver’s Sushi Den, as well as chapters at Sushi Hai and Sushi Sasa. His Filipino upbringing and his mother influenced his culinary art as he skillfully combines fresh produce with Asian flavors and Californian influences.

“Being from Colorado I’m used to growing fresh produce, ranches and seasonality, and that’s what I’ll bring to Palm Springs and more. I’ll be using local California farms and an abundance of fresh fish delivered daily from the coast Our menu will showcase what the Golden State has to offer, and I’m excited to share my approach to dishes inspired by my experience and heritage of Asian cuisine. Given the restaurant’s proximity to the San Jacinto mountains, the designer Jenni-Kate Rogers, Owner of Crow and willow, combined desert influences and mid-century design with a laid-back California vibe. She included pops of pastel pink, natural rattan chairs, terracotta pots, palm trees, and crisp white walls – all merged into a warm and accessible space that remains authentic to the desert landscape. The indoor-outdoor space includes a mix of indoor common seating for large groups and coworking, smaller two and four tops, as well as individual bar seating. Lounges, cabins and sofas are also available.

Starting Wednesday, August 18 – per the City of Palm Springs’ Supplementary Emergency Order – Boozehounds customers must show proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test taken within the past 72 hours. Masks are required upon arrival, but Boozehounds invites diners to be maskless while enjoying their food and drinks.
