Blind dog gives birth to puppies in rescue center after living “life on a chain”

A blind dog who arrived at the rescue center pregnant lived “a life on a chain” before giving birth to puppies at the shelter.

Twelve-year-old Annalize arrived at Many Tears Animal Rescue, near Llanelli, pregnant and totally blind, with matted fur and raw red skin.

The old northern Inuit cross had lived its life on a chain and needed an eye removed. She may still need her remaining eye in the future.

Her puppies, born at the rescue center, have found a home, but poor Annalize is still looking for a place to enjoy her twilight years.

Annalize still has a lot of love to give, having undergone a total transformation while living with a host family in Pembrokeshire.

Her foster family said: “Beautiful Annalize has yet to find her adopted home forever, after so long in fostering.

“She came here for the first time after having had puppies, after being found pregnant when she came to rescue a breeder.

“She had lived her life on a chain and her neck was raw red when we greeted her. It took a long time to heal, but healed well. Now she looks amazingly fluffy again! “

Annalize is looking to live with another resident dog in her new home – and loves cats too, so would love a feline sibling.

Annalize, northern Inuit cross, looks like she always winks

Her nanny explained that Annalize becomes anxious if she is away from her humans.

She added: “She is very upset even when you are in bed. She is currently sleeping in a room with the other dogs, but I am in a separate room from hers with only a stair gate so she knows I am am only a few meters from her.

“Annalize isn’t fully home-trained after two years so we don’t see that changing, she will be clean most of the day as long as you let her go out at regular intervals.”

“She almost always goes to the indoor bathroom at night, so you should accept her if you were to adopt her.”

Annalize cannot be crated as she is not a fan of any kind of containment. Her new owner will have to get used to not closing the doors, otherwise she will scratch them.

Her host family said: “There is a lot to tell you about Annalize and she is a very big part of anyone’s life in so many ways, she doesn’t live with you – you live with her!”
