Ballarat named 2021 Companion Animal Rescue Awards finalist

The Pet Insurance Australia Companion Animal Rescue Awards have just announced the Ballarat Animal Shelter as a finalist in the “Outstanding Council Animal Shelter” category.

The Rescue Awards shine a spotlight on the rescue groups, animal shelters and pet organizations that continue to save thousands of animal lives during these trying times of the COVID-19 era.

The Rescue Awards are Australia’s first and only national awards program that celebrates and recognizes achievement in the rescue, rehabilitation and placement of pets.

Ballarat Town Mayor Cr Daniel Moloney said it was fantastic recognition for the hard work of everyone involved in the Ballarat Animal Shelter.

“The past year has been difficult for our animal management team,” he said.

“We have had over 800 dogs and over 100 cats that have been recovered, we have adopted over 250 dogs and over 700 cats, and have provided shelter and care to many others in need.”

“From veterinary care to our dedicated staff, to the students, volunteers and the public who give so generously, it’s a huge team effort. ”

The Rescue Awards are a specific program run by Pets4Life, an independent educational resource for cat and dog sitters and those considering having a pet.

“This year, the finalists have demonstrated not only excellence, but also resilience and their ability to innovate in these difficult times to save and bring back pets,” said Cathy Beer, Founder of the Rescue Awards and advocate. of the rescue of Pets4Life.
