Anyone for a hug ?!

If you love dogs, you will know they love to snuggle up against blankets, pillows, people – really anything warm and comfy!

But when a dog rescue center in Norfolk appealed for comfortable spare bedding from people via social media, they were surprised at the number of donations they received.

Hillside Animal Sanctuary and Dog Rescue said around 100 people were lining up outside to hand over their old quilts and blankets to the puppies, causing “traffic jams” in the area!

Wendy Valentine, who founded the shelter, said it would make a big difference to the comfort of dogs, especially during periods of cold weather such as the UK is currently experiencing.

“We usually have a good stock of donated bedding, but recently we’ve had so much rain,” said the 71-year-old.

She said the humid weather meant they used more towels and blankets than usual, and it was difficult to wash.

The shelter therefore enlisted quilts or featherless blankets that the dogs “snuggle up in” and the local community delivered.

The post has been shared over 800 times, and the word is out!

Wendy said people’s generosity would be greatly appreciated by the furry residents, and the duvets made their plastic beds “comfortable and warm.”
