A California homeowner called animal rescuers with a report of snakes under their home. A specialist arrived and discovered that there was indeed a poisonous rattlesnake on the property, along with 91 others like this one.
An initial search under the house resulted in 59 rattle babies and 22 adults in less than four hours, according to NBC News. When Sonoma County reptile rescuer Al Wolf returned for a second look, he met 11 other snakes. As the weather cools, he expects more rattlesnakes to come looking for a place to hibernate.
âWe know there will probably be more of them,â Wolf said. “I will be going there again this month.”
The house where the snakes were sighted is on a rocky property with a similar foundation, which Wolf says attracts rattlesnakes. He expects to return home in April to find other unwanted guests walking around. The owner allegedly asked not to be identified for fear of shaking his neighbors.
Wolf told a local newspaper that the snakes he removed were mostly passive in nature.
âSome, you go up and pet,â he said. âSome you can’t. “
While some people took to the rescue group‘s Facebook page to express their horror, one optimist pointed out that at least homeowners in the area won’t have to worry about mice.
