After two months of effort, Animal Rescue regains access to Facebook

A local nonprofit’s Facebook page was hacked, putting the animal rescue program at risk. But, 5 On Your Side was able to reach out to Facebook, which eventually helped the animal rescue regain control of their page.

Thank you Laura Gerhard has again taken over the Friends of Rocky Mount Animals facebook page. You don’t understand what it means to be in May. She says the hackers have taken over the page, cutting off a major source of fundraising for the rescue. Gerhardt also says the hacker started collecting adoption fees for dogs that weren’t actually available. Five on your side have worked for almost two months to regain control of the page. Gerhardt posted this thanking five on your end for retrieving the page and there are some steps you can take right now to prevent this from happening to you, mainly getting two-factor authentication and logging alerts.
